Honda Bay Snorkelling

Discover the wonderful white sandy beaches, coral reefs and rich marine life as you hop around Honda Bay.

Enjoy some free time relaxing on the beautiful beach on Pandan Island and snorkelling round Honda Bay.

Leaving the city behind you’ll head to the small port of Santa Lourdes Wharf where you’ll board a traditional wooden boat to Pandan Island. Upon arrival, simply sit back, relax and admire the islands natural beauty or snorkel amongst the tropical fish and colourful coral reef. After recharging your batteries, it’s time to re-board your boat for the return journey, en route, you’ll cruise past Snake Island.

Essential information

This tour will operate by minivan and boat. The boat will beach for passengers to wade the short distance to the shore. The island is very basic and has few amenities, public toilets and shower facilities are available, but basic. A small shop sells soft drinks. Loungers and sun shade is limited. Please take a hat, insect repellent, sunglasses, shoes that can get wet, a towel and sunscreen. A bottle of water is recommended. Passengers will spend approximately 1½ hours’ free time on the beach.

A unique experience awaits you, during a city exploration.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the passing scenes as you travel to your first stop on this tour of discovery. Housed in the old City Hall is the Palawan Museum. With your guide, explore the ethnological and archaeological history of the province. Exhibits include Chinese and Spanish era pottery and prehistoric artefacts from the Tabon Caves.

Then it’s time for something a little different, as it’s visiting time at Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, known to locals as the ‘Prison Without Walls’. The minimum security prisoners are not locked up, but instead, live with their families and work on agricultural projects. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to shop for some unique handicraft souvenirs. Back onboard your minibus, you’ll climb 100 feet above the city, to Mitra Ranch. Owned by the family of the late Senator Ramon Mitra, the ranch offers breathtaking views over the rolling mountains and down to the sea.

Continuing on, you’ll visit the Binuatan Weaving Centre. Here you’ll learn how Palawan’s indigenous fibres, such as field grasses and buri are woven into beautiful products including bags, table runners and curtains. Finally, before heading back to your ship, enjoy a short photo stop at Plaza Cuartel, the former site of a Japanese garrison. Today, it serves as a Memorial Park in honour of local heroes and American soldiers who were killed during World War II.

This excursion will operate by minivan and on foot. Passengers are advised that there is approximately an hours’ walking included, with some steps and gravel terrain to negotiate. Cameras are not permitted within the Palawan Museum. The accepted currency at all souvenir shops is the Phillipine Peso.

St Paul Subterranean River National Park

Admire the amazing limestone landscape during a relaxing river ride through the world’s longest underground river.

Sit back and relax as you leave the city of Puerto Princesa behind. Travelling through beautiful, lush countryside you’ll wind your way to the small village of Sabang. Here, you’ll change your mode of transport to a small outrigger boat to transfer to St Paul Subterranean River National Park.

At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is surrounded by ancient trees. Monkeys and monitor lizards have made the nearby beach their home. Enter the exotic and breathtaking world of the underground river by paddle boat. Equipped with search lights, one enters a mystical environment exploring the pitch-dark inner recesses of the cavern. The boat travels approximately two miles into the cave, and along the way you are treated to a spectacular display of rock formations and cathedral-like chambers which nature has sculpted over millions of years. The underground river has recently been declared as one of the ‘New 7 Wonders of Nature’ and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Following this once in a lifetime experience, tuck into a buffet lunch served at a nearby beach resort before returning to the ship with lasting memories.

Please take shoes that can get wet, bottled water, hat, local currency, sunscreen, swimsuit, towel and a change of clothes. You’ll be required to wear a life jacket. Passengers are advised that the minibuses do not have a PA system.
