When it comes to decadent desserts and the stuff of sweet dreams, master pâtissier and P&O Cruises Food Hero Eric Lanlard knows a thing or two.


His indulgent sweet treats can already be found in the Market Café on board Britannia, as well as at his unique Afternoon Teas in The Epicurean restaurant on board Azura, Britannia and Ventura (also coming to the Ocean Grill on board Arcadia later this year). But now even more P&O Cruises guests will have the chance to taste the ‘Cake Boy’s’ magical creations.


We’re pleased to announce that Eric’s new mouthwatering dessert, a chocolate Pavé Royal, will feature on the Executive Chef’s menu, which guests will enjoy on a Black Tie night on cruises over 12 nights. ‘I am so excited to be introducing P&O Cruises guests to my Pavé Royal,’ says Eric. ‘It combines my two passions of chocolate and pastry. I hope that guests love this dessert as much as I do.’

Made of velvety-smooth, dark chocolate mousse layered with soft hazelnut dacquoise meringue and crunchy praline wafers, and coated with a gold-dusted mirror glaze, this delicious dessert is the perfect way to round off dinner. And what makes it so special is the specific chocolate Eric has chosen for his creation.

The Valrhona chocolate company, based in the small town of Tain-l’Hermitage in France, has been producing luxury chocolate since 1922 and is dedicated to the creation of unique, artisan-quality chocolate with complex, balanced and consistent flavours.


Of his choice of chocolate, Eric says: ‘The deliciously smooth Valrhona chocolate is perfectly complemented by the crunch of the praline wafer, while the spectacular marbled mirror glaze gives the illusion of polished marble.’
