Loyalty and Cruise Sales Manager, Danielle

In my role, I’m fortunate enough to be able to sample some excellent tours - says Danielle

How long have you worked for P&O Cruises?

I started working at the onshore Carnival UK office in 2007, before moving to work at sea as a Loyalty and Future Cruise Sales Manager in 2011. I’ve worked on six of our seven ships and each one holds brilliant memories for me.

What does your job involve?

I introduce our onboard guests to our loyalty scheme, The Peninsular Club. My everyday tasks include anything from preparing table plans for special events to enjoying a good catch-up at the Peninsular party with some of our most travelled guests.

What is exciting about working for P&O Cruises?

I grew up by the sea and think it gave me a sense of adventure. P&O Cruises is a company I have grown up with and I went on my first cruise aged nine. I knew I wanted to work at sea from that moment on.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I thrive on visiting new places and I love to travel, so staying in one place for too long is not my idea of fun. P&O Cruises is quintessentially British and working at sea with some of our home comforts is great - especially the fantastic food!

What are the best parts of your job?

The chance to see so many exciting ports. One month I'm in Norway and the next I’m in Australia! In my role, I’m fortunate enough to be able to sample some of the excellent tours, too. Being in direct contact with our guests means I see many friendly faces, which is really nice because working away from my own family for a long time can be tough.

What are the main challenges of your job?

Things like rough seas, bad weather or missing a port can be testing. We occasionally have to help out other departments to ensure that our guests' experience is second to none.

What has been your favourite destination so far?

It has to be Hong Kong. When I first visited, it took me by surprise. It was exactly how I’d imagined with its fast pace and busy, bright lights, but that was coupled with a very serene, beautiful side with lovely beaches and peace and quiet. It's really good for shopping, too!

What’s your favourite thing to do on board?

I like to get involved in the silly activities that take place around the ship. I’ve even been known to dress up as a pirate in a Crossing the Line ceremony on a journey where we crossed the equator.

What exciting things has P&O Cruises got coming up?

The new ship Britannia, of course! She’ll be visiting beautiful destinations and has some great itineraries lined up.
